| We have all probably heard, “A wise person learn from their own mistakes, but a REALLY WISE person learns from the mistakes of others” I hear it all the time from people.They have their Product or Service and it’s the best thing since sliced bread… according to them.Then they say, “I just need to learn how to do the marketing for it. It’s even more problematic when someone doesn’t respect Marketing and thinks their Product or Service will sell itself. That’s when the futility of sharing the truth with them hits me: If I tell them the path to really getting their act dialed in will come from respecting the fact that other may not instantly fall in love with their product, and maybe you are going to have to build a marketing and sales system to get the product in portential customers hands, I get resistance from them. What really blows my mind is the number of intelligent people that treat their network marketing business like they have a direct sales opportunity. Network marketing is about alot of people doing a little bit. I tell our team all you need are about 10-15 customers. Your long term income is in direct proportion to the number of leaders that are developed on your team. If you are in the network marekting profession, you are in the leadership development business! Who have you been following are they teaching things that feel like they are not authentic? That should be a clue! |
At the same time, I want to be helpful and provide value to them, and I know the best way to do that is through a marketing and sales system.It’s a catch-22. They sincerely believe they can go into the market with no game plan or system, and chat their product up and others will flock to buy it. Nothing is further from the truth. However many people have been taught that the way to launch their business is to chat it up on social media daily.
Maybe I’m a glutton for punishment because I go out of my way to share all sorts of Resources, podcast, and Ideas they can utilize to create a great marketing system to be met with some version of, “Do I really have to do this?” or…To have the Marketing marrow I provide sucked dry and discarded once my patience with the person runs out… again, according to them, I just simply don’t know what to do with that.
But, then I had a realization: The Best Way To Teach Someone Is To Let Them Learn.If people think the Marketing they need to do is just so easy, then fine!Who am I to argue? Reality will teach them a better lesson than I ever could.
I have been doing this for years. The number of people that I hear from each week who share their “I drank the MLM Guru Koolaide” stories is overwhelming.
The number of people who have set up blogs with the false promise that
if you want to be percieved to be a network marketing professional you must have your own blog and other principles that make no sense in the real world is beyond ridiculous.
If they choose to follow the advice of some self-proclaimed network marketing gurus who is willing to tell them what they want to hear, so they can sell them what they want to sell them, then so be it. Some people have to learn the hard way. That is why at last count there we over 42,000 self proclaimed network marketing consultants, gurus, attraction marketing specialist, triners, consultants and so forth on You Tube. Most of which have dormant accounts and left the network marketing profession becasue they were taught to act like something their not.
| They’re going to learn a great lesson about how that line of thinking plays out in the real world. If they think it’s so easy. YES, some people have been able to fail in multiple network marketing companies and then realized I can just fake it till I make it, and who will really ever know the differenece? However no credible person has ever thought that faking to you make it on social media was the answer to building a real business. Most network marketers never bother to look behind the curtain and ask, who is this person and why should I be listening to them? How many full time earners did they ever develop on their PERSONAL TEAM? Maybe the best response is simply, “Go forth and do your thing!”More and more I’m realizing that maybe I don’t need to try and change their mind.Maybe life is the best teacher of all. Sometimes I’ll sit and try and help people, and they just aren’t teachable or coachable. Other times I’ll help someone and they get to a stage of success where they don’t think they need me anymore.In both cases, the best way to teach them is to simply let them learn. Ego and self-preservations are emotions that I realize I am never going to fully understand. After all, if someone feels an Idea or Connection adds too much oil to their water and it will never mix for them, why should I disagree?Suffering fools at the hand of someone else’s resistance to the way things work in reality is a poor investment of time and energy.I have a great ally. It’s called reality. All great leaders had great mentors with proven track records. All great teachers where first great learners. When someone’s actions and thinking don’t align with reality, reality pushes back.The symbiotic nature of a person’s action and reality’s reaction is really the best teacher there is.If someone is resistant to your Experience, Coaching, or Insight, that’s when you need to remember that for those that get it, no explanation is needed; For those that don’t, no explanation will do. Below is the honest truth if you want to create legacy network marketing income. I know, most people don’t want to hear this, and that is fine with me. The pushback is ridiculous becasue the people that watch this training realize real quickly. Yes, I may be able to create a six figure income with my opportunity but LEGACY income is impossible. |
That’s when you need to forego explanation and let the experience of life take over and teach them. The sad part for me is over the last 15 -20 years I have watched great people over and over and over again, get involved in the network marekting profession, get sucked into the wrong culture, leave the profession, never to return again. The profession cannot afford to lose people who could become great leaders.
It’s for their own good.It kind of reminds me of the Serenity Prayer: “God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. Courage to change the things I can. And wisdom to know the difference.”When I’m with someone and I face resistance when I try and help them, more and more I’m realizing that The Best Way To Teach Someone Is To Let Them Learn even it is from unecessary failures.
